What is the difference between PET plastic cups and PP plastic cups?

There are many materials for plastic cups, and the functions and characteristics of plastic cups of different materials are also different. Let's compare PET plastic cups and PP plastic cups.

Features: PE is relatively soft and has a waxy texture to the touch. Compared with the same plastics, it is lighter in weight and has a certain degree of transparency. The flame is blue when it is burned.

Polypropylene (PP) applications: microwave tableware, pots, plastic barrels, thermos cup shells, woven bags, etc.

Features: high chemical stability, good hygienic performance, and high heat resistance. Microwave oven tableware can choose plastic products marked with PP.

Toxicity: Non-toxic, harmless to the human body.

The polymer can have three three-dimensional structures: isotactic, syndiotactic, and random polypropylene, the former two can be crystallized, but the latter cannot. Commercially available polypropylene products basically have an isotactic structure, with a melting point of 164-170 degrees Celsius, a density of 0.935 g/cm3 for the crystalline part, and 0.851 g/cm3 for the non-clean part.

The biggest disadvantage of PP is that it is easy to oxidize and age. Now it is overcome by adding antioxidants and UV absorbers.

Polyester (PET) applications: plastic beverage cups, medicine cups, cosmetic cups, oil cups, various cup covers, and heat preservation covers.

Features: Good transparency, not easy to break, good chemical stability, suitable for packaging various liquid or solid medicines. Good for UV rays

Covering.

Toxicity: non-toxic.

PET plastic cups are the mainstream of beverage packaging. PP cups are mainly PP cups molded in one-step injection stretch blow molding machines and two-step heating stretch blow molding machines, which have the advantages of transparency, robustness, and heat resistance, and the price is relatively low. PP plastic cups have good temperature resistance, flexible cup shape design, and excellent performance in terms of safety, sanitation, and taste retention of the contents. The scope of use of PP plastic cups in the beverage packaging market has gradually approached that of PET cups. The continuous development of modified resins, anti-reflection agents, and mechanical equipment technology has enabled PP containers to replace glass, PET, and PVC containers, and has broad market prospects.
